Bodywork Technicians

Reporting to the Operations and Inventory Supervisor, the Technician is responsible for intermediate duties such as, but not limited to, cleaning, configuration, diagnosing, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining returned desktops, laptops and accessories in a timely and cost effective manner. Operation and basic maintenance of equipment or machines will be required. May be required to participate in inventory activities.

Job Description

Desktop and Laptop Configuration Responsibilities:

  • Compare desktop or laptop components (i.e. Hard drive, CPU, Memory, Optical drive, Batteries) with based on specific requirement
  • Replace and install the hard drive, CPU, memory, optical drive, or batteries to match the Customer order
  • Test if the unit can start properly
  • Perform simple trouble shooting
  • Reset BIOS system
  • Place worker ID labels on the item
  • Move the Desktops back on the assembly line for the operators to clean.
  • Check Laptop screen and LCD for flitching and white spot
  • Clean Partition of hard drive
  • Plug in and test Internet cable
  • Turn on the Wifi and remove SIN card
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Other Responsibilities:

  • Disassemble laptops and desktops to recover components for testing, inventory or recycling
  • Testing of recovered components may be required
  • Maintains a high standard of productivity by completing priority planned work quickly and accurately
  • Completes all required paperwork on a timely basis according to company standards
  • Ensures a strict level of confidentiality with regards to customer's files and service contracts
  • Understands and adheres to all privacy and information management policies and procedures
  • Adheres to all company Policies and Procedures, including Health & Safety Policies
  • Demonstrates good judgment and respects the confidentiality of company and personnel information
  • Deals professionally and courteously with all internal and external contacts
  • Seeks guidance and direction as necessary in the performance of duties
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Provision of data for performance and quality
  • Able to perform tasks independently
  • Able to provide training and define an employee as "Trained" in a specific skill
  • Expected to follow Site security protocol
  • Expected to maintain 5S standards in work area
  • Expected to participate in Continuous Improvement activities

Skills and Requirements

  • Diploma or one-year specific industry experience preferred
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools
  • Experience in a fast paced work environment
  • Efficient, and works with a sense of urgency and time conscious
